I’m an aspiring writer with plans to indie publish my trilogy in 2015.
However, I have had a short piece of work published. A few years ago, I entered a competition run by English Heritage seeking short stories set at or inspired by Whitby Abbey. I live on the North Yorkshire Coast about 30 minutes south of Whitby so I took a trip up the coast and fine-tuned my idea. The submission deadline came around and it was a bit of a rush to get it in. I was pleased with my short story but felt it would have been better if it hadn’t been so rushed. I therefore had no expectations of winning the competition but was absolutely delighted when my story ‘Under Destiny’s Moon’ was selected as one of 50 to appear in an anthology named ‘Pure Inspiration’. English Heritage sell the books at Whitby Abbey and they’re available through Amazon. Disappointingly the typesetting of the book has missed out a vital part of my short story; several sets of asterisks. You see, the story flicks between the present and the past and the asterisks were there to clearly indicate this (because I’m not a fan of writing in present tense). But they’re not there. Which means it could be a smidge confusing! Anyway, here it is on Amazon. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you do read it!
